Thanks Sami

Just wanted to say thanks to Sami Inkinen for taking the time to share some of his experiences of training benefits.

I like to try things and see what works and it seems like a pretty efficient thing to see what works for other people and try this too. I like Sami’s approach to training. We all have other commitments and this approach might just help me spring to the next level of performance without increasing overall time (just intensity!).

At the moment, I’m trying to see how much and what level of intensity I can cope with during the week. It turns out that this is less than I thought! However, the idea of taking an extra rest day when feeling tired seems to really pay off too. Doesn’t it seem to make logical sense when getting the “I feel tired and not recovered properly” to rest and not do that session? Resting gives you the benefit - doing the session won’t make you improve as much as the rest will (IMHO). So, I’m trying to find that balance - high enough intensity for the right duration so I don’t have to take more than 24hrs to recover and ideally less to get the next session in.

I’ll post my plan on here and some of the sessions I’ve got.

One thing I do know - I love the Sufferfest sessions. These can be super tough, but with a good rest/different session the following day, I can feel myself getting stronger. I suppose that a good interval session would have the same effect - Sufferfest keeps you pushing right to the end.
